Born in Sydney, George Byrne, graduated from the University of Sydney: Bachelor of Arts, and Bachelor of Visual Arts (Sydney College of Arts). He had an affinity for photography since a young age; gradually the field became apparent as a natural focus during his studies, and as a possible profession. Moving to Los Angeles—current residence—constituted a defining moment in his professional life; the city’s architecture and its landscape drove the evolution of his work and his passion for it. His subject—everyday urban space—, and vivid style refers to the New Topographics photography, and Modernist painting, respectively.
